Phoenix Hospital Protection Attorneys
Most people only go to the hospital out of necessity and as a last resort. They then trust that the staff and the facility is going to do everything they can to protect them and improve their health. However, due to volume and not always adhering to strict safety standards and proper procedures, injuries result that qualify as medical malpractice.

At Snyder & Wenner, P.C., we are here to hold hospitals and physicians accountable when medical malpractice occurs and recover compensation for their patients who suffer harm as a result.
There are things that people can do to try and prevent problems from occurring when entering a hospital, including:
- Do not sign any blank consent forms that do not specify who will be treating or operating on you.
- Make sure to check your chart frequently for discrepancies.
- Check the medications prescribed for you to make sure they are the correct types and dosage.
- Ensure that heath care providers wash their hands and change their gloves before touching you.
- Before a doctor or nurse uses a stethoscope, ask that the diaphragm (the flat surface) be wiped with alcohol.
If you do require surgery, here are some precautions you can also take:
- Choose a surgeon with a low infection rate; statistics are often available.
- Request that your surgeon has you tested for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) at least one week before you come into the hospital .
- On the day of your operation, remind your doctor that you may need an antibiotic one hour before the first incision to help protect against infection.
- Ask your doctor about keeping you warm during surgery so your immune system is not lowered.
- Avoid a urinary tract catheter if possible to avoid additional exposure to bacteria and infection.
- If you require an IV, make sure that it's inserted and removed under clean conditions and changed every three to four days.
At Snyder & Wenner, P.C., we focus our resources on the most complex and serious cases when medical malpractice occurs because doctors do not take these precautions. We promise to give our full attention and concern to each case that we take.
